What is a connection circuit breaker?
There are two types of circuit breaker: instantaneous and selective. Instantaneous circuit breakers trip immediately if there is a problem on the electricity network, while selective circuit breakers operate with a slight delay. The connection circuit-breaker is installed on the technical housing duct upstream of the electrical box. In addition, the connection circuit-breaker limits the power consumed throughout the dwelling, depending on the contract you have with your energy supplier.
Role and location of the connection circuit breaker
The connection circuit breaker acts as the interface between the electrical installation in your home and the electricity distribution network managed by Enedis. There is a property boundary between your private network and that of the distributor.
Types of connection circuit breaker
Connection circuit breakers come in single-phase and three-phase versions. Single-phase has two electrical connection terminals (1 phase and 1 neutral), while three-phase has four (3 phases and 1 neutral). Each type is designed to meet specific individual or industrial uses.
To choose the right connection circuit breaker, it's essential to consider the energy requirements of your home. While single-phase circuit breakers offer a power range from 3 to 18 kVA, three-phase circuit breakers cover a range from 6 to 36 kVA.
It should be noted that most homes are equipped with single-phase systems, as their power requirements are generally lower than those of businesses.
What's more, One-Elec sells both differential and non-differential circuit breakers.

The BACO low-voltage circuit breaker (ref. LEG401000) is a 250V~ bipolar device designed for limited-power tariffs (blue tariff) from 3kVA to 36kVA, with a rated current of 45A. Its main functions include disconnection and isolation of the installation, protection against overloads and short circuits, and rating adjustment to limit power according to the contract. It can be sealed and has an instantaneous 500mA differential version to protect people against indirect contact and prevent the risk of fire. The current rating is adjustable to 15A, 30A or 45A, and its Enedis nomenclature number is 69 30 044. This circuit breaker is approved to NF C 62-411.
For greater convenience, particularly in second homes, this circuit breaker can be combined with reference SURT66006, enabling it to be reset remotely, for example after a storm.
A four-pole version of this circuit breaker is also available under reference LEG401011.
For larger installations requiring a monitored power tariff (yellow tariff) from 36 to 250kVA, the connection circuit breaker referenced KIT_AGCP_160 is recommended.
Standards and regulations for connection circuit breakers
Located upstream of your electrical installation and downstream of the meter, it delimits the zone governed by standard NF C15-100 (private network) from the zone governed by standard NF C14-100 (public network).
This distinction means that you can work on all the parameters of your electrical installation that depend on the circuit-breaker, either yourself or by calling in a professional electrician. On the other hand, everything upstream of the circuit-breaker is managed exclusively by your electricity supplier.
Installing a connection circuit breaker
The installation and operation of a connection circuit breaker is reserved for professionals and must not be carried out by private individuals. In the residential sector, this device is installed and sealed by Enedis, which prevents any unauthorised intervention.
