Additional modular electrical devices for electrical panels and enclosures

All these appliances fully comply with all industry standards. Additionally, there is a wide variety of optional modular equipment that can enhance electrical safety, decrease electricity costs and safeguard individuals. These include power meters, energy meters and surge protection devices.

Which types of additional modular devices are suitable for which functions?

One-Elec offers many products for electrical panel and enclosure installations. They can be divided into 3 groups: power metering and control, protection, and installation monitoring.

Modular devices for energy management

In today’s businesses energy management is crucial for analysing, understanding and minimising the consumption of all types of energy (electricity, water, gas) while optimising comfort in buildings, whether commercial or industrial. This is where power meters and energy meters come into their own.

Also, the European directive on energy efficiency in buildings 2012/27/EU, revised in 2018, makes it compulsory for all large companies to carry out an energy audit. They must install equipment that can monitor, measure and optimise their energy efficiency.

Modular devices that protect sensitive equipment

Compulsory in some areas of France (areas of high thunderstorms), surge protection devices are highly recommended everywhere to protect expensive electrical equipment in certain buildings or when continuity of service is a necessity. All Schneider Acti9 range surge protectors, with or without remote indication, are available from One-Elec.

Don't forget to integrate modular surge protection devices into your electrical panels to protect all your communication networks. The Drivia range of enclosures is available online from Legrand.

Modular devices to monitor your installations

Protecting expensive and sensitive equipment from damage caused by fault currents (leakage to ground) is important, particularly for industrial applications. In the event of an insulation fault or in addition to an earth leakage protection device, One-Elec recommends integrating a residual current relay into the electrical panel which can send an alarm signal.

Schneider Electric remains the benchmark in this field with the Vigirex and Vigilhom ranges, ultra-sensitive differential relays from 0.03 A.

Modular sockets that are installed directly in the electrical panel

If there's another very practical modular device that's much appreciated by people in the industry, it's the socket outlet integrated directly into the electrical panel. It enables the direct and close connection of electrical equipment to the electrical panel. It is also often used to connect a modem or an accessory for a communications box.

Electricians, please note that in some countries even though you may be required to install at least one earthed socket in the main service wires for all new installations or renovations, it is possible to integrate it directly into the electrical panel on a DIN rail. The socket must then be protected by a dedicated 16 A circuit breaker.
